What is Acrobatic Dance?
Acrobatics and Gymnastics share a similar skill set, yet they differ performance aesthetics, training methods, and skill execution.
Acrobatics, is usually done in dance studios, on multiple floor types whereas Gymnastics is done on a spring floor. Gymnastics utilizes varied apparatus like Beams and bars to craft visually captivating routines.
In Acrobatics, the performers themselves become the apparatus, sculpting new forms and constructing layered performances by using their bodies creatively.
I'm Amy, the founder of Acroflex.
Beyond being a mother of two and a devoted spouse, I bring over 20 years of dance expertise as a certified Acrobatic Arts Instructor.
My journey started in Africa, and today, I call the UK home. Trained in both ballet and acrobatics from the age of four, I went on to achieve Honours & Distinction through the Acrobatic Federation of South Africa (AFSA).
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of performing at prestigious events, including the Durban July Horse Races and many high-profile corporate functions.
Now, as the first UK affiliate of the Theatre Dance Association (TDA), I continue to share my passion for the art.
I also had the honor of representing The National Ballet of Zimbabwe and competing at the National level in Acrobatic competitions in South Africa.
